As many of you will make the highly anticipated visit to the man himself… Mr Claus, over the weekend we have some great tips to make sure your visit goes as smooth as possible, and that you have some wonderful memories in those Santa photographs that you will look back on for years to come.
So often we are oh too excited about our child visiting Santa that we forget it can be quite a daunting experience for you little one. We recommend the following tips to ensure the visit goes as smooth as possible
Have A Drive by - Walk past Santa’s grotto a few days before and talk with your child. Explain to them that you are going to pay him a visit in a few days and get a lovely picture. Let them know what to expect.
Distraction at the Ready- Getting the picture just right can be tricky too. So many parents leave with a picture of their child crying, or their little one refuses to pose for the picture at all. Explain what’s going on, but failing that providing a distraction is always beneficial. Lots of photographers recommend putting some tape on your child’s hand. This can help distract you little one if they get fidgety and also helps keep them calm.
Positive Vibes - Avoid preparing your child by saying “Don't be afraid, Santa's not going to hurt you,” you've introduced a possibility that may never have occurred to them. Instead, talk about how fun it will be, and show your child a picture of a sibling or a cousin perched happily on Santa's lap
What to Wear? - You really have so many choices when choosing your child’s outfit for visiting Santa, you can go Fun & Causal with colourful Christmas Jumpers or more classical Christmas with a more formal party wear look for your little one.
Stole my Look - Bear in mind Santa is going to be in red so often its best to try to avoid red so your child will stand out in the picture. Often kids get lost in a sea of red velour and white fur collars.
Comfort is Key - Make sure your child is comfortable. This is a happy, fun occasion and you want your little one to enjoy every second. A cool pair of chinos with a jumper can be just the thing. Your child will look smart and still be able to move around, play and enjoy the experience.
If you want a little extra help with your outfit choices for the day we have Christmas Sections set up for each department online with great suggestions for every age group. Or pop in store where our Team will be more than happy to assist you.
Most importantly of all Enjoy the Experience, you will look back on these pictures for years to come and remember that special day.
