Where it all began
Mods & Minis first opened its doors to the public in 2004 in Killarney. A vivacious, colourful children’s store just brimming with personality it was an instant hit. Deirdre McCloskey founder of Mods & Minis set out to create a space where families could not only shop for the latest trends and styles in children’s clothing but a space where families could go to create memories while enjoying the exceptional customer experience offered in store.
As a family orientated store, Mods & Minis strives to be a welcoming safe haven for moms. With television sets and play areas in each store Mods & Minis allows moms to shop in peace while the little ones are happily occupied. We give out balloons to children in-store to make the experience as enjoyable and memorable as possible. It doesn’t hurt that these small gestures are often all that is needed to keep those fed up of shopping tantrums at bay.
As a mother, Deirdre was all too familiar with the struggle of finding affordable appropriate clothing for children. At that time, it was very difficult to find good quality clothing that wouldn’t break the bank. This all changed when Mods & Minis opened and introduced Killarney to the wonderful collection of children’s clothing by Name It a children’s clothing company based in Denmark
Want It, Need It, Name It
Name it encourages fun with fashion oozing with personality and bursting with colour, truly reflecting what childhood should be. Their lines are always comfortable and wearable and most importantly machine washable. Always ahead of the latest fashion trends Name It enables a fashion sense that is so on bang on trend and funky it keeps kids exciting while at the same time the clothes are appropriate and kind to mom and dad’s wallets, a winning combination! Name It and Mods & Minis quickly became a household name, with many of our loyal customer making long trips to visit in store and stock up for the current season.
Love It, Wrap It, Gift It
Deirdre recognises the importance of making things as easy as possible for busy parents. Along with the in-store entertainment provided for children, she wanted to find a way to make the store a place where parents would like to go and really feel they were getting value for money. We introduced free gift wrapping services in store, meaning that now Mom’s, Aunts, Friends and Grandparents had a one stop shop for children’s gifts. You could go in pick out an outfit and have it wrapped up ready to go all in the one go.
